Necmettin Erbakan University hosted the Word of Emotions Project Training in one of the cities of Turkey, Konya during the 7th-11th of September. Our learners, Leyla, Asmat, Hasret, Omar, and Merve arrived in Konya on the 7th of September, and the training started at the hotel’s conference room. Participants from Spain, Romania, Turkey, and Sweden started to get to know each other with the help of name games prepared and led by the University’s teachers. After that, one of the teachers began to explain the topics by projecting them on the whiteboard. The topics covered in the training:
-Emotional intelligence,
-How to manage our emotions,
-Impact of emotional intelligence
-How to communicate with children needing emotional support etc.
This project aims to improve staff competencies regarding the education of adults who care for children with emotional problems concerning emotional intelligence education and to help these adults to face difficulties to manage their own emotional states, by using innovative non-formal methods and by knowing best European practices in the field.
Teachers also guided the learners to have few group discussions. Moreover, there were cultural visits in the training. Thanks to Necmettin Erbakan University and Konya Municipality, all of the participants had a chance to see Science Center, Tropical Butterfly Garden, Panoramic Museum, and Whirling Dervish Ceremony.
Apart from the training, there was a trip to Cappadocia on the 9th of September, where the participants could visit Ihlara Valley, Derinkuyu Underground City, Uranos Restaurant, Pasabag Valley, Devrent Valley, Onyx Stone Workshop, Pigeon Valley, which is full of fairy chimneys.
We thank Necmettin Erbakan University Staff because of hosting our learners in a wonderful city, Konya. Our learners feel great to meet new people and to make new connections. We also thank our partners for the collaboration, and for sending amazing people to the training.
