No Hate Speech regarding refugees issue

What is no hate speech?

Anne Brasseur is the  Ambassador of the No Hate Speech Movement. The No Hate Speech Movement aims to combat hate speech by mobilising young people to speak up for human rights and democracy online. Launched as a youth campaign in 2013, the No Hate Speech Movement was co-ordinated at European level by the Youth Department of the Council of Europe until 2017. The movement continues across Europe and beyond through the work of national campaigns and campaign activists.

The movement seeks to reduce the acceptance of hate speech both online and offline, through human rights education and awareness-raising, youth participation and media literacy. It provides educators and campaigners with “Bookmarks”, a manual on combating hate speech through human rights education and a compendium of resources. The movement mobilises young people so that they may report hate speech and cyber bullying to the relevant authorities and on social media channels.

“Bookmarks” is a manual for combating hate speech through human rights education. It was specifically created to support the No Hate Speech Movement. The manual presents activities designed for young people aged 13 to 18, but which are adaptable to other age groups.

How is no hate speech connected to youth work/social work?

From the beginning, in schools there was hatred between the children on the appearance and the race. Also, starting with schools, working with young people, youth campaigns have been formed in this area. In the No Hate Speech movement exist rules and objectives. Social assistance plays an important role because it encourage equality and directs those workers in the movement to focus on solving the problem and at the same time it brings solutions to combat the problem.

The No Hate Speech Movement youth campaign of the Council of Europe was officially launched in March 2013 to combat hate speech by mobilising young people to speak up for human rights and democracy online. By the end of 2017, the movement had been launched in 45 countries. No Hate Speech connected youth work/social work through the need of it, because working with other people and with their problems, young people are a strong impact on the world and social work provide solutions and empathy directly to the person in need.

How we do promote no hate speech?

No Hate Speech is promoted through social media, through youth campaigns, through seminars and organizations.
