Hello! My name is Gemma. I’m 17 years old and I’m from Spain. The reason I came to Sweden was to improve my level of English, learn to be more independent and to see the world. I am currently doing an Erasmus scholarship and then I will have finished a medium degree in I.T. and Networking. I was working as an employee in the city hall of my hometown, Benaguasil in charge of computer incidents with three other colleagues.
I have been working in the city hall for three months in which I was tasked with solving the daily problems of the city hall and other nearby companies. I mainly worked checking cables, fixing problems with monitors, updates, issues with printers, developing web pages, changing components, and installing devices.
With this new job I hope to improve my computer skills and gain new experiences that will help me to improve within the field of web development, especially, in the development of web pages since as I have a greater interest in that section. I also hope to improve my English level, especially in listening and speaking in conversations with other people, as well as trying to take the initiative when it comes to talking to strangers.
Sweden was my first choice without hesitation, since I saw many videos and learnt about the beautiful cities and nature. Also, the fact that English is so widely spoken gave me the confidence to go to this new country without the need of my parents supervision.
